Katie Compton is core.
In fact, she’s about as core as it gets.
At Cross Vegas this year, the announcer noted that “Katie Compton doesn’t even lose handshakes” which is to say that she has a competitive spirit that is downright scary.
Couple this tenacity with an almost unfair amount of raw talent and brute strength, and she is one hard woman to beat when you put her on a cyclocross bike.
I’ll admit that I’ve been known to be a sentimental jock, but watching footage of her is emotionally moving for me. Even crappy youTube footage. I guess I’m just a sucker for kick-ass women who crush.
When I first got into cyclocross I watched this video over and over and over. The conditions are horrendous. Snow, ice, mud, bitter cold, and suffering. I love the way she rides the drops – and keep your eyes out for the sweet slow-motion save about 48 seconds in. Crank the volume if you’re into Jane’s Addiciton.
