[Scroll down to skip all this gibberish and go straight to the video.]

It rained.

It was a week ago and people groaned because it was a three-day weekend.

But me?  I woke up and did a jumping jack triple-fist-pump underneath the attic skylight.  I jumped up and said, “It’s RAININGGGGGGG!!!”

And then I put on a raincoat, grabbed my Flip video camera, jumped on the old Veloforma ‘cross bike, and headed to Sellwood Park for some sweet mud-puddle action.

It was wet and muddy and wonderful.

The rain went away and the first race of the season reported 90 degree sunshine (I missed it due to a family obligation) but soon enough the sky is going to crack open and the Cyclocross Gods will have their way with us.  There will be mayhem.  There will be mud.  There will be pain.

It’s time for ‘cross.

[Stay tuned for the return of the Cyclocross Diaries for 2009. In addition to race reports, we'll be producing 2-minute videos after each race. Crash footage, helmet cam footage, convos with the pros and the everyday shmucks like me.  It's going to be fun. Don't touch that dial.]

Dylan – it’s already on my calendar, buddy. Brubaker tipped me off! See you there :) [I'll miss the first one due to Interbike.]
